The Missouri Arts Council and the Regional Arts Commission are co-sponsoring a presentation on “Arts in Crisis” by MICHAEL M. KAISER, President of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts (The Kennedy Center) in Washington, D.C. The presentation  begins at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, November 17 at the Sheldon Concert Hall, with a meet and greet session starting at 9:15 a.m. The presentation begins at 10:00 a.m. through 11:30 a.m. It is free and open to the public.

Kaiser has been dubbed “the turnaround king” for reviving ailing cultural institutions, including Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, American Ballet Theatre, London’s Royal Opera House and the Kansas City Ballet. He’s touring the country to deliver the message from his book “Art of the Turnaround,” which details 10 basic rules for saving troubled arts organizations. Kaiser will engage the audience in a Q&A discussion on how the nonprofit arts can survive in tough economic times.
